Neck Woods

The standard Tahoe Guitar neck is a five-piece lamination with Honduran Mahogany as the primary wood. The inner lams are typically walnut and hard maple. This design offers excellent structural stability, an eye catching look, and allows more efficient use of the materials.

Another advantage to a laminated neck is that the neck can be dressed up by using different woods and varying the widths of the lams. The pictures below show some examples.

I typically stock Sapele and Spanish Cedar as alternatives to Honduran Mahogany for the primary neck wood. Sapele tends to be somewhat heavier and a darker brown compared to mahogany. Spanish Cedar is lighter in weight with a darker hue.

There are many possibilities on a custom guitar. Please contact me to discuss your needs.
